Choose soft pastels for spring, earthy tones for fall, or something that features a great print. Great little quilt to use up border fabrics or a favourite feature fabric. This prehistorically cool quilt pattern offers instructions for two quilt sizes: a small lap quilt featuring a single mammoth, and a twin quilt with four mammoths. You can choose to adorn your mammoth with a hat and scarf for winter gear, or keep it cool without. The large block sizes mean even a single block can create a striking quilt. The design is elegantly framed with half-square-triangle details, as seen on the cover. Utilizing traditional piecing techniques, the Chilly Mammoth pattern heavily relies on the Stitch & Flip method. While there are several points to match, the generous piece sizes provide ample "wiggle room" for achieving perfect points. Would you like to learn Paper Piecing basics? Come learn how to make this lovely snail block by Violet Craft. You will learn how to make a few sub-blocks and then join them together to make a full block. Although each sub-block is different, you will apply the same techniques each time, which sets you up for success on any future project you make. If this block is your jam, you may also love the larger quilt that it comes from - "The Forest Abstractions". This snail block finishes at 8.5" x 8.5" - the perfect size for a small wall hanging or a block for your next hoodie. No matter your reason, come join us for some fun, roll up those sleeves and let's get cutting! We are here to help you with attainable goals (and a plan!) to use those scraps. There are SO MANY great scrap friendly projects out there and we will share some of our ideas! We will also have a "anything goes" pile where you can dump, swap or shop for scraps.
