This modern, original backpack pattern is perfect for a confident beginner! The Pembina Backpack (by Canadian pattern maker The Blanket Statement) is perfect for all your everyday expeditions, providing a stylish and functional design. It has two pockets for either interior or exterior storage, allowing you to customize your organization! Featuring a zipper-free, drawstring and grommet closure to keep your stuff secure, while still allowing convenient access. Plus, a heavy-duty snap for extra strength and durability. Finished Bag Size: 11"W x 13.5"H x 5.5"D.

You will learn how make bias binding (much easier to apply on curved edges!)

FABRIC & SUPPLY REQUIREMENTS
Refer to back of pattern (you may need extra if using a directional fabric)
If using a longarmer to quilt your layers before class - provide atleast .75m of lining fabric (or check with your longarmer for their suggestions)
*you can even up-cycle a previously made quilt into this backpack!
Heavy Duty Snap (Willow liked using a magnetic snap)
1" Webbing/Strapping: 2.75m 
1" Slide Adjuster (2)
1" D Rings or 1" Rectangle Rings (2)
Grommets 3/8" (8) and Grommet Tool to apply grommets


SUGGESTED SUPPLIES
Marking tool (Hera marker) or fabric pen/pencil
Wonderclips - helps keep layers together without using pins

PREP WORK BEFORE CLASS
If you prefer the quilted look to the backpack, please have that done before class (but DO NOT CUT it up yet)

WHAT IS IN A BASIC SEWING KIT:
For most of our classes we ask you to bring (along with your sewing machine) a 'basic sewing kit' which usually contains: rotary cutter and/or scissors, cutting mat, small snipping scissors, straight pins & a pin cushion or collector, seam ripper, a spool of neutral 50 wt cotton thread, extra bobbins, notebook & pen/pencil, tape measure/ruler(s), etc.

CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY:
Classes are non-refundable. No credit or refund will be given for a "no show" in class, regardless of reason. So please ensure that you are able to attend before signing up. You are welcome to arrange for someone else to take your spot in the class instead. Around The Block reserves the right to cancel classes/events for any reason. If this happens, you will be refunded your full class fee.
