Jelly Roll Rug (Sat Jan 24/26)

Turn a Jelly Roll (or scraps strips!) into a beautiful rug. One Jelly Roll will make a rug that is approximately 30" x 40". It uses either scrap batting cut into 2.5" strips, or make life much easier and buy a "jelly roll" of batting!

FABRIC & SUPPLY REQUIREMENTS
Refer to the back of the pattern - here is the breakdown though:

1 Jelly Roll or 42 2.5" strips (by Width of Fabric)
50 yard package of 2.5" Jelly Roll Batting Strips
   (or equivalent of 1.25yd of batting cut into 2.5" scrap strips)
Batting seam tape (if using batting scraps)
Thread and Bobbin Thread to coordinate with your Jelly Roll fabrics
**your sewing machine must have the ability to do a zig zag stitch**

SUGGESTED SUPPLIES
Fabric Tube Maker by Clover (this tool will make the job so easy that you will be planning another one!)
Walking Foot (aka "dual feed" foot) makes all those thicker layers run smoothly through your machine
Denim 90 or Microtex 90 needle (little bit sturdier than your regular quilting needle)


PREP WORK BEFORE CLASS
We suggest you attach your strips end to end. We recommend a diagonal seam as there will be less bulk at each seam when you fold it over. 
You may wish to starch and press your fabric pre-class (we like Best Press). This will help reduce fraying and stretching on the bias after cutting.

WHAT IS IN A BASIC SEWING KIT:
For most of our classes we ask you to bring (along with your sewing machine) a 'basic sewing kit' which usually contains: rotary cutter and/or scissors, cutting mat, small snipping scissors, straight pins & a pin cushion or collector, seam ripper, a spool of neutral 50 wt cotton thread, extra bobbins, notebook & pen/pencil, tape measure/ruler(s), etc.

CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY:
Classes are non-refundable. No credit or refund will be given for a "no show" in class, regardless of reason. So please ensure that you are able to attend before signing up. You are welcome to arrange for someone else to take your spot in the class instead. Around The Block reserves the right to cancel classes/events for any reason. If this happens, you will be refunded your full class fee.
