Chilly Mammoth Quilt (Sat Jun 13/26)

This prehistorically cool quilt pattern offers instructions for two quilt sizes: a small lap quilt featuring a single mammoth, and a twin quilt with four mammoths. You can choose to adorn your mammoth with a hat and scarf for winter gear, or keep it cool without. The large block sizes mean even a single block can create a striking quilt. The design is elegantly framed with half-square-triangle details, as seen on the cover. Utilizing traditional piecing techniques, the Chilly Mammoth pattern heavily relies on the Stitch & Flip method. While there are several points to match, the generous piece sizes provide ample "wiggle room" for achieving perfect points. This project is ideal for both adventurous beginners and experienced quilters alike!

10am - 4pm.

FABRIC & SUPPLY REQUIREMENTS
*Basic Sewing Kit (see below for suggested kit items)

Refer to the back of the pattern **pattern has suggestions for alternate bear colouring in the inside of the pattern, on page 2

SUGGESTED SUPPLIES
Tucker Trimmer - makes squaring up HSTs that much easier
Microtex 90 needle (little bit sturdier than your regular quilting needle)
Seam Roller - creates fast, flat seams with just the slightest pressure so you can finish your project faster without getting up to the pressing station
Wool Pressing Mat - helps make super crisp seams
Travel Iron - if pressing at your sewing station, a smaller iron takes up less space!

PREP WORK BEFORE CLASS
Precut all of your fabric
*You may wish to starch and press your fabric pre-class (we like Best Press). This will help reduce fraying and stretching on the bias after cutting. With so many blocks to assemble, starching pre-cutting helps with cutting and piecing accuracy.

WHAT IS IN A BASIC SEWING KIT:
For most of our classes we ask you to bring (along with your sewing machine) a 'basic sewing kit' which usually contains: rotary cutter and/or scissors, cutting mat, small snipping scissors, straight pins & a pin cushion or collector, seam ripper, a spool of neutral 50 wt cotton thread, extra bobbins, notebook & pen/pencil, tape measure/ruler(s), etc.

CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY:
Classes are non-refundable. No credit or refund will be given for a "no show" in class, regardless of reason. So please ensure that you are able to attend before signing up. You are welcome to arrange for someone else to take your spot in the class instead. Around The Block reserves the right to cancel classes/events for any reason. If this happens, you will be refunded your full class fee.
